President's Message - IHCNO Leadership Opportunities

Make a difference in home-based nursing practice at the international level, while building your resume. IHCNO has many ways for you to be involved that will fit your interests and available time.

1. Join our community.

  • Become an individual member of IHCNO and receive these benefits:
  • Discounted subscription to Home Healthcare Now journal to stay up to date on clinical practice
  • Mentoring is available to help you develop your ideas and prepare a manuscript to submit to Home Healthcare Now.
  • Register for no-cost webinars and continuing education recognition (CEUs through ANCC).
  • Chat with like-minded nurses on topics of your choice in the Members Only section of the IHCNO website
  • Submit a proposal to receive a clinical nurse or nurse leader DAISY award.
  • Vote in IHCNO elections
  • Receive our monthly newsletter to keep up on new happenings.
  • Highlight your awards and accomplishments in the member highlight or member’s news sections of the monthly newsletter.
  • Take part in the quarterly President’s Forum for an informal talk about how IHCNO can contribute to your personal and professional growth.
  • Receive no-cost access to educational materials to improve your knowledge and skills. Look under the Education tab at IHCNO.org.
  • Submit an application to the annual Marilyn D. Harris Research Grant, deadline September 30.
  • Follow IHCNO on social media.
  • Participate in the hybrid in-person/virtual conference planned for Spring 2026 in London.

2. As a member, develop your leadership skills and build your resume as a committee member.

  • Join one of our 11 committees by emailing your interest to info@IHCNO.org:
    • Advocacy
    • Bylaws
    • Communication
    • DAISY Award
    • Education
    • Finance
    • Membership and Outreach
    • Nominations
    • Program Planning
    • Publications
    • Research
  • The work of IHCNO to advance the practice, education, science, and advocacy of home-based nursing is done in the committees.
  • Sharpen your leadership skills as a chair or co-chair of a goal-oriented committee.

3. Become a leader in the organization on the Board of Directors.

  • The Board of Directors conducts the business of the organization and moves the mission and goals forward. Director terms are for 3 years.
  • Officers of the organization are President, Vice President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, and Corresponding Secretary and have 2-year terms.
